Entertainment is not only about movies, but it includes all the activities you do for recreation or amusement. In this blog, I will mention one (primary/major) source of entertainment.

In 2010, Kevin Systrom launched Instagram. It was launched for the purpose of photo and video sharing. The app primarily focused on pictures with various filters and organized them with location information and hashtags. In 2012 Facebook acquired Instagram for $1 Billion in cash and stock.

• The server-side code used in Instagram is Django python. It is a high-level web framework that enables the rapid development of secure and maintainable websites.
• RabbitMQ and celery handle tasks such as sending notifications.
• PostgreSQL is a database application; it stores most of the data of the platform.
• Redis is used for the storage of faster feeds.
• Gunicorn is used as a web server.
• The message that Instagram sends is clear: it no longer wants to be thought of as the “square photo-sharing app,” as Mosseri puts it, but instead, as a general entertainment app driven by algorithms and videos.
• In 2013, when the video function was launched by Instagram, around 5 million videos were uploaded on the first day.
• Around 32% of all internet users across the globe use Instagram.
• There are more female users on Instagram than males.
• The number of business profiles on Instagram is 8 million.

I am able to see that many of my friends are using Instagram. It proves that Instagram is one of the best sources of entertainment. Use it wisely, otherwise, it may turn against you.
